A little reading from North London
New Reading Material: Cold Water, Red Stars & North London
Following up on our "Hampstead and Highgate" article from a few months ago, I’ve put together a new photo booklet for the group. This one dives into one of London's strangest and most fascinating political landscapes: North London.
The booklet covers a bizarre but completely true mix of local history. We look at Karl Marx walking the Heath with his family, Lenin printing revolutionary newspapers in Clerkenwell, East German Cold War connections, and the famous (and freezing) Hampstead pond winter swimmers.
As someone born and raised around North London, this area holds a lot of my own history. It is a fantastic, green, and deeply historical part of the city that I firmly believe everyone should explore one day, far away from the usual crowded tourist trails.
The booklet is with images, history, and a few awkward discussion prompts for future group discussions.

Summer Drink
We were lucky with the weather again this year and had a great evening at "Alteburg", a lovely beergarten in the Cologne Südstadt.
A whole range of people were there including Jochen, our oldest member and Pam who was able to talk about her baby and show us a few pictures. That was very sweet.
